The year started with a flurry of weddings at Blaqeye, but one, in particular, stood out to the team as it was exceptionally eventful, but not in the way that you would anticipate or wish. It was a morning that began perfectly – the team was buzzing with excitement, ready to capture the day’s moments. We set off from the office bright and early, but as fate would have it, our journey was not without its hiccups.
As we joined the Accra-Tema Motorway, our car unexpectedly developed a problem. Manager at Blaqeye Concepts, Kwadwo, who was behind the wheel as our esteemed team lead for the day had to wait behind for a mechanic. The rest of the team, not wanting to miss a single moment, left in a Bolt for the dress-up location.
Ernest, our ever-reliable second-in-command, stepped up to the plate in Kwadwo’s absence. He acted as the interim team lead, albeit with a hint of uncertainty clouding his decisions. But his dedication was unwavering, and he took the reins with a quiet determination to succeed.
Kwadwo later made his entrance at the dress-up location, seamlessly continuing the exclusive shots of the couple. The team, particularly Ernest, was relieved to have him on board. However, as we moved to the garden for the white wedding ceremony, the team faced another unexpected obstacle, this time in the form of a policeman. Kwadwo was detained, and once again, Ernest was thrust into the lead role.
The ceremony went on, and despite the setbacks, the wedding was nothing short of magical. Ernest’s leadership shone through, even as the shadow of Kwadwo’s absence loomed over him. For Ernest, these were moments filled with anxiety and self-doubt, but also with hope and a drive for excellence.
By the time of the reception, Kwadwo had reunited with us, yet it was Ernest who continued to guide the team through the rest of the event. The day had been a rollercoaster of emotions, but it was also a testament to the team’s resilience and dedication.
The questions in Ernest’s mind lingered –had he adequately filled Kwadwo’s shoes? Had he led the team to exhibit their best ability? There was a palpable tension as we awaited the final verdict on our efforts, but again, as fate would have it, Ernest’s commitment to excellence, shaped through his time working alongside Kwadwo, left little room for doubt.
The long-awaited day arrived when the wedding trailer for Edward & Sandra was released. Cyrus, the Founder and CEO of Blaqeye Concepts, was awestruck by the beautiful shots captured by the team. His words were filled with pride as he proclaimed, “Great Job! I owe everyone who worked on this project.” It was a profound moment of validation for Ernest, Kwadwo and the entire Blaqeye team.
